It is extremely important, especially today, for our student to be aware and informed about the pros and cons of censorship. They should be educated on issues such as freedom of speech, and the right to access information, but they should also be aware of the dangers of the internet and abusing it.
We could implement lessons such as class discussions, research projects, presentations, experiments and more.
Activate:
Begin with a class discussion to ignite the students ideas about the concept. Gain an initial grasp on the students' understandings and beliefs about censorship.
Acquire:
Go to the computer lab with students to further research different instances of censorship and it's pros and cons.
Have the students split into groups and prepare a prezi for the next several classes to then present their opinions in a unique way to the rest of the class.
Apply:
Open up a group discussion after each presentation to see how the knowledge is increasing and whether opinions are changing or not.
Assess:
Grade their presentations and their participation.
